I moved to the area for the obvious reasons — cost of living, more space and time for my family and work — but stayed for reasons I didn’t expect: a robust creative community and collaborative spirit.

Still, I felt there was something missing, an independent voice promoting discourse around the visual art of the region.

I’m covering exhibitions and artists in a region overlooked in national arts coverage — because the Midwest isn’t a flyover, it’s a blind spot.
